If registered for Leadership Training, WIFLE is offering an Optional Wednesday, July 17, evening event: Tour of the U.S. Capitol First Street NE, Washington, DC The U.S. Capitol Visitor Center is the newest addition to this historic complex. At nearly 580,000 square feet, the Visitor Center is the largest project in the Capitol's more than two-century history and is approximately three quarters the size of the Capitol itself. The entire facility is located underground on the east side of the Capitol so as not to detract from the appearance of the Capitol and the grounds designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1874. Visitors are welcome to enter the building through the Capitol Visitor Center, located underground on the east side of the Capitol. You can begin your Capitol experience at the Visitor Center by visiting the Exhibition Hall, perusing the Gift Shops or dining in the Restaurant. WIFLE participants will view the historic areas of the U.S. Capitol Building on a private guide-led tour. The tour will include visiting the Crypt, the Rotunda, National Statuary Hall and the Capitol Visitor Center. Transportation will be the responsibility of each individual.The hotel offers shuttle service to and from the Metro.Check with the hotel concierge for the shuttle service information and schedule.Metro maps and further transportation information is available at the WIFLE check-in desk.
