How to Navigate the EEO Complaint Process

This presentation will equip federal law enforcement officers with information to determine whether the EEO complaint process is a viable course of action for addressing a workplace, such as promotion/placement, discipline, performance, pregnancy, parental status, reasonable accommodations, and fitness-for-duty examinations. The presenter will explain the various phases of the EEO complaint process to include: the pre-complaint; formal complaint; formal investigation; and adjudication of the complaint. Conference attendees will learn about the connection between alternative dispute resolution and the EEO complaint process. The presenter will share strategic considerations for various issues, including: meeting filing deadlines, formulation and amendment of discrimination allegations, collection of documentary and testimonial evidence, availability of relief, participation in mediation, and the interplay between the EEO complaint process and other potential courses of action.
